Well, I was feeling a little jealous of all the beautiful families I’ve had the privilege of photographing lately so I took the time to kindly request my family do some photos as well because I wanted to have the memories too just like everyone else.

It’s a growing time for my family with moving and a new baby recently that it was definitely time to photograph and remember this moment, this year. My mother got behind the camera and became a master photographer in less that five minutes. It’s that easy, right?

My husband bought me a Sigma Art 35mm 1.4 lens and I’m in love with it. It was a combined mothers day and birthday gift as I turned the big 3-0 this year. I’m going to celebrate that fact, along with a new decade in my life on the horizon so too is a new growth period for me. I’m learning how to be a mother of more than one child and being a “business owner” (attempting..).

I’ve photographed 6 families this year and one engagement so far. I have nine more families booked in the next 3 months alone. It’s going to make me grow so much in learning and mastering my photography skills. Every session I learn a bunch of new things, and I almost always have a “hindsight is 20-20” moment right after the session or during editing where I wish I would have done this or that but that’s part of the process. They say if you’re comfortable you’re not growing. I definitely get that. I also get that following your dreams is a marathon, not a sprint.
